A Friend who grew up in Australia but have lived in Bangkok for the last 20 years tells me this is the best burger for her in Bangkok.

What intrigued me was that the chefs of this burger establishment were former members of the Thai national culinary team, headed by the Dusit Thani College-trained Eakkachai Saengkardsanee.

So I made my way to Chunky Burger at Soi 23 Sukhumvit Road, a stone throw away from Soi cowboy (men everywhere are going to pretend they haven’t the faintest idea where Soi cowboy is PS it’s not a steakhouse)

I walked into Chunky and was pleased with its cosy minimalistic decor. The wood hues and homely decor put me at ease straightaway.

I ordered the signature Chunky beef burger (B295), made with Australian beef patty, a house-made mayo-based “secret” sauce, cheddar cheese, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions, tomato, shallots and some greens.

All their buns are home made Brioche Buns. The Brioche buns were beautifully tender, moist and delicious.

The entire ensemble worked really well. The beef was moist and tender, brioche buns were tasty and the sauce was delightful.

Dessert was a truffle creme brûlée , washed down with a thick ice milk tea.


We were told that they just removed the pastas from the menu. Pity – I read about their award winning shrimp capellini and I understand their pasta offerings were good.

I’ll rate it 7-5 -8/10.

Now I know where to go to for a good burger in Bangkok.
